Meaning
Almost an Object reflects on what happens when the need to be accepted becomes stronger than the need to be authentic.
We learn to soften our edges, adjust ourselves to expectations, become easier to understand, easier to like, easier to keep around. We avoid being difficult, inconvenient, too much, too honest. Slowly, the parts that make us distinctly human are edited away.
At some point, a person who tries to become everything others need may become almost nothing of themselves.
Not quite a person.
Almost an object.
